DCCA Kicks Off EVMS Effort

The DCCA Strategic Plan for 2007 – 2010 includes a number of process improvement goals, one of which is the attainment of Earned Value Management System (EVMS) credentials.  Earned Value Management (EVM) is a project management practice that combines measurements of accomplished work, schedule, and cost in order to evaluate project performance and introduce corrective actions when necessary.  EVM is complementary to the CMMI® Level 3 practices that are already in place at DCCA, and will serve to further reduce risk on our projects by closely evaluating cost, schedule, and progress metrics. Similar to our CMMI Level 3 rating, EVMS credentials will open doors to new business and allow us to better service our customers.  Efforts toward developing an EVMS began in earnest in August, 2007, with the addition of an EVMS expert to the DCCA team.
